Structuring The Song
This week I have spent my time researching and creating. I recently finished my first research paper about pianist and how they were successful, I also learned from researching that a pianists brains have the ability to initiate parts of the brain faster than the average person. I also got together with Emma this week to brainstorm ideas for our song. To our success we were able to finish a rough draft of the first verse of our song, I even played a few chords on the piano to get an idea of what melody we wanted. Emma and I discovered that when writing a song, it is easier to write a song about your own experiences, to our advantage we both had the same idea of what genre and category we wanted the song to be. Being able to give each other ideas and relate with each other through experiences has helped us write the song tremendously.
Combining Talents
This week Brianna and I got together and put lyrics to notes. We brainstormed ideas and I constructed some lyrics together with the help of Brianna's input. She mainly focused on the piano and we got some rough drafts on a melody. The melody so far has been a struggle. We plan to meet after break and really start to practice the song. Both Brianna and I plan to sing on the song together.

Brainstorming Ideas
This week has been a hectic week, but I have managed to work about three to four hours on the 20% project. This week I have for sure pushed myself to work more on practicing the piano than usual, and thankfully I have seen progress on my ability to read moderately harder pieces of music. I have also seen improvement on how fast I can perceive and play music. This week I have also been listening to many different pieces of music to get ideas of what would be best suitable for me. My dad has been showing me how different chords are played for the individual genres of music, and my piano teacher has been teaching me about how melody works, because the melody is what I will be playing. Finally, I have been brainstorming ideas all week about how to construct my first research paper.

Getting Inspiration and Encouragement
This past week I have gotten tons of inspiration by researching, and an immense amount of encouragement from my piano teacher. I have devoted 20 percent of my time researching a lot about what the first steps are when composing your own music, and the process it took to get the completed and successful piece. I have also discussed with my piano teacher about what would be the next big step to take for me to get where I hope to be in May, we decided the best thing to get closer to where I want to be is to push myself to work on reading and playing music out of my comfort zone. I have been practicing a lot more than usual, and I am determined to successfully play the piece that I am working on in front of the class without hesitation. My piano teacher has also agreed to help me compose my piano piece that will be coordinating with Emma's song. I am very eager to see the outcome of this project, and am looking forward to seeing my progress grow within the next couple of months.

Taking the Challenge
This week I have spent about two hours practicing on the piano and getting ideas for the piece I will be creating. I have challenged myself to practice on more advanced sheet music than I am used to. I am hoping that by doing this that it will allow me to broaden my horizons when choosing what type of piece of music I plan to create.
I have chosen 3 pieces of music this week that are interesting to me, so I can get ideas from them for the piece I will be creating. I am hoping to create a pop or contemporary piece that are mainly made up of chords. I am starting off with chords because this will be the first piece I have ever written, and although I hope this adventure will lead into me creating more complex pieces in the future.

Fueling the Fire
This week has been highly stressful with writing. I have a rough verse for the song. Although I am battling some writers block unfortunately. Next week I will be meeting with my partner Brianna Philbin to mesh our two compartments of the project together. I am hoping that this will allow me to get some more ideas and continue with the song in a positive direction. From some of the research I have done, I have learned to sometimes take a break from a song in order to become overwhelmed. One of the things I have learned while writing is that it is not for the faint of heart. It can be very difficult to simply state how one feels. There are so many ideas and emotions flowing all at once. It is an amazing processes I will say. I am rally enjoying this project much more that I anticipated.
