Abundant words

I have finally completed the song. This last week for some reason it all came rushing in at once. It was like the weeks of trying and frustration just gave way and I let go. This song is not super long or amazing. It is my first real song and I still have along ways to go if I choose to write more. Besides its length I am very proud of the song. It was inspired by my own experiences and those of others. The research I did this last month really did contribute to how I constructed y lyrics. I tried to slow down  and observe along with not stressing so much over making the words poetic. In the end of the process I decided to change my title. It had two different titles at firs, but once I finished the title was very apparent to me. I will definitely try to write again in the near future.

I will also share the lyrics soon.

Getting Into the Exciting Part

Image result for microphone and piano  This week I have spent about 3-hours on my 20% project. I have been researching quite a bit for my last research paper, I have also been working on my piano piece I have had for awhile now, with that I have learned that it looks way easier than done. I am hoping I will have it down by the time of the presentation so I can show a video of me playing the piece. Emma gave me the lyrics to the song she wrote, and after she sends me the lyrics I plan to play around with different chords with the help of my piano teacher or dad. I plan to sing a verse or harmonize in the song, and after we have the song perfected, we plan to record in and show the video in the presentation.

 Smoothing Out Rough Edges

This week has tested my ability to stay determined. Writing is so special, and yet at times it is hard to not become frustrated when the words don't come so easy. The song is going well with the exception of it needs a bit of polishing. I am looking forward to Brianna and I meeting and playing and singing the song together.

The Finishing Touches

This week I have been researching a lot about how to construct your own music, particularly piano music, which is for sure more difficult to find sources for. I have also been spending at least 30 minutes a day practicing the piano. Because of mine and Emma's busy schedule, we have planned to facetime to be able to finish up the song. Once we are able to finish the song, I will be able to work on the piano chords for the song. I have still been working on two piano pieces that I will get the opportunity to play at my piano recital.

Struggling to Balance Time

Image result for balancing timeThese past few weeks I have been trying to manage my time between work, school, and piano. At times I have become overwhelmed with trying to balance each of them. To help with balancing each I have considered which ones are a priority at the time and focus on that. It has helped to focus on one at a time, instead of just worrying about all I have to get done in the future, I just focus on what is most important to get done at that time.  Although this project is a great opportunity to do something I love, I have learned a long the way that it isn't always easy.

In the past few weeks i have researched songwriters and how they got started. What I have learned is how far songwriting has come. Writing songs is truly timeless. I hope it lasts through the next generations. If people knew what Songwriters went through to be where they are today, more people would appreciate songwriting. After this project I plan to continue writing songs. This process has really inspired me to go out of my comfort zone. Thanks to the songwriters of old i have learned so much.

Structuring The Song

This week I have spent my time researching and creating. I recently finished my first research paper about pianist and how they were successful, I also learned from researching that a pianists brains have the ability to initiate parts of the brain faster than the average person. I also got together with Emma this week to brainstorm ideas for our song. To our success we were able to finish a rough draft of the first verse of our song, I even played a few chords on the piano to get an idea of what melody we wanted. Emma and I discovered that when writing a song, it is easier to write a song about your own experiences, to our advantage we both had the same idea of what genre and category we wanted the song to be. Being able to give each other ideas and relate with each other through experiences has helped us write the song tremendously.
