Taking the Next Big Step

On Wednesday I got the chance to sit down with my piano teacher to discuss about what would be the next steps on bettering my piano skills and my ability to read the sheet music. I also entertained the idea of writing my own piece of piano music by her. I also sat down with my dad to get ideas on what would be the best way to start a piece of music, and what type of
genre would be the best for me to play/write.
I am excited for this opportunity to take the next big step towards my desire to write and play my own music.

The Beginging

Today I started the beginning of my research on finding inspiration for writing a song. What I have learned is that I cannot just wait for inspiration to find me. I need to search for things that I am passionate about and write those things down. I challenged myself to write down ten things I saw or felt today. At the end of the ten things I tried to see if I could connect them and form a story. From the story I can shorten the words into a lyrical sequence. The beginning of writing fa song can be difficult. Although the inspiration is an infinite tool I hope to use throughout this whole process.
